“European Heritage Days” 2020
The Municipality of Tivat – Secretariat for Culture and Social Activities is once again joining the event “European Heritage Days”, which will be realized from 28.09 to 2.10, throughout Montenegro. “European Heritage Days” in Tivat are organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Public Institution Elementary School “Drago Milović”, NGO “Children of Tivat”, Public Institution “Museum and Gallery” Tivat and NGO “Atelje Slaby”. This year’s theme of the event is “Heritage and Education”, with the aim of showing the potential of cultural heritage, as a tool for learning, but also as inspiration for the future.
The event in Tivat began with the painting of a mural – “School life once upon a time” on the wall of the elementary school “Drago Milović”. The students, members of the art workshop of the NGO “Children of Tivat”, whose mentor is the academic painter Zoran Kruta, started painting a mural, which according to them most realistically depicts school life in the past.
In addition to the above, the event “European Heritage Days” in Tivat will be marked with two more activities:
- on Wednesday, September 30, at 11:30 in the premises of the Public Institution “Museum and Gallery” Tivat, the event “Krasnopis as a part of heritage” will be realized. This will be an opportunity for a number of students to write a short text about the cultural heritage of Tivat using the techniques of calligraphy. Knowledge in this area will be passed on to all participants by a calligraphy expert;
- on Friday, October 2, in the premises of the elementary school “Drago Milović”, the activity “Let’s teach children forgotten skills” will be realized, where students will learn more about the process of making clay figures.
The Secretariat for Culture and Social Activities of the Municipality of Tivat opted for practical workshops, intended for a smaller number of participants, due to the current epidemiological situation and in compliance with all NKT measures.
The “European Heritage Days” event was initiated by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, and is traditionally celebrated every September by 50 countries, signatories to the European Convention on Culture. The event involves the organization of events at the local and national level, while the unique theme of the event is chosen at the European level.
