The President of the Municipality of Tivat, Zeljko Komnenovic, hosted the Ambassador of Canada to Montenegro, HE Giles Norman.<\/p>\n
Thanking the ambassador for the visit, Komnenovi\u0107 reminded that one of the most important projects for Tivat and Montenegro – Porto Montenegro, was envisioned by the Canadian investor Peter Mank, and that this fact became a permanent link between Tivat and Canada.<\/p>\n
He talked with Ambassador Norman about the current political and economic situation, but also about the social situation in Tivat in general. “In last year’s elections, the citizens of Tivat were given a unique opportunity to participate in” direct democracy “, since the government was formed by local civic lists. “And in less than a year, we will be in power with almost four million budget deficits, reaching plus 4 million euros in the city treasury,” said Komnenovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
The mayor also informed the distinguished guest about the plans for the next period, emphasizing that the goal of the current administration is to create a modern city infrastructure, on a par with that which can be seen within the Lustica Bay and Porto Montenegro projects.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Norman thanked for the warm and open reception. He assessed the relations between Montenegro and Canada as very good and said that the coronavirus epidemic was a kind of limiting factor in the work of the Canadian Embassy, \u200b\u200band that his intention was to resume activities in Montenegro and the region. He announced promotional activities aimed at presenting the entire region to interested Canadian investors, recognizing Porto Montenegro as a successful example of a large project.<\/p>\n
