The President of the Municipality of Tivat, \u017deljko Komnenovi\u0107, hosted a reception for the Mayor of the City of Split, Tomislav \u0160uta, who is visiting Tivat and the Bay of Kotor at the invitation of the Croatian National Council of Montenegro.<\/p>\n
In addition to Mayor \u0160uta, the meeting was attended by members of the delegation: Ru\u017eica \u0110onli\u0107, Head of the Mayor\u2019s Office of the City of Split; Denis Krni\u0107, Senior Advisor in the Mayor\u2019s Office; Vanda Babi\u0107 Gali\u0107, Envoy and Special Advisor to the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia; Frano Belohradsky, member of the Supervisory Board of HNK Hajduk; as well as Zvonimir Dekovi\u0107, President of the Croatian National Council of Montenegro. On behalf of the Municipality of Tivat, the meeting was also attended by Municipal Manager Ivona Petrovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
Komnenovi\u0107 and \u0160uta discussed the improvement of cooperation between Tivat and Split and a number of topics of mutual interest, with a special focus on municipal services, economic and tourism development, as well as the position of the Croatian national minority in Montenegro. The importance of respecting national minorities, preserving cultural identity, and strengthening institutional support in line with European standards was emphasized. As noted during the meeting, the City of Split stands out as an example where national minorities are an integral and important part of the city\u2019s overall life. The discussion also covered Montenegro\u2019s European integration process, as well as opportunities to use EU funds at the local level, with an exchange of experiences from the City of Split.<\/p>\n
As part of the visit, a tour was organized of the island and the sanctuary of Our Lady of Mercy (Gospa od Milosti), where the Municipality of Tivat recently implemented a water supply project. Further restoration projects for this UNESCO-protected site are also planned.<\/p>\n
In an open and cordial conversation, the participants expressed their readiness to continue and enhance cooperation between the two cities and the two countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
