City Park investments
In the Big City Park in Tivat, extensive and valuable works are currently underway to install new public lighting, build a new fence around the FK "Arsenal" stadium, and install a new irrigation system. The total value of these investments, mostly financed from the budget of the Municipality of Tivat, amounts to nearly 400,000 euros.
The infrastructure improvement projects in this protected area are being implemented based on the Management Plan for the period 2022-2026. Among the measures for its development, there is a recognized need to adequately illuminate the walkways, green areas, and cultural landmarks of the park. For this significant project alone, an amount of €205,565.00 has been allocated from the budget of the Municipality of Tivat.
"Special attention has been given to energy efficiency during the introduction of the lighting system, through the use of modern LED technology and protection from light pollution. In addition to the existing ambient lighting, a spectrum that attracts fewer nocturnal species has been utilized, and the lamp positions have been determined at a height of less than 4m to protect the canopy layer," stated the Secretariat for Spatial Planning.
The installation of 74 new poles with accompanying luminaires is being carried out by "Cema" Ltd. from Podgorica. The works include excavation and foundation construction, as well as the procurement and installation of decorative public lighting poles with accompanying cable installation. Due to the specific conditions for laying cables, manual excavation is being performed in certain sections since there are numerous trees and roots along the route.
In addition to installing public lighting, the Directorate for Investments of the Municipality of Tivat is also undertaking the task of installing a new fence between the park and the FK "Arsenal" stadium. The works, valued at €96,953.18, are being executed by "Ađi Invest" Ltd. from Nikšić.
"The old concrete wall on the edge of the main promenade has been removed, and a new fence has been constructed following the existing model, with concrete pillars and metal grating, which is now being installed next to the stadium, in accordance with the boundaries and area of the park. Most of the works have been completed, and the contract includes the procurement and installation of two new gates," announced the Directorate.
The Management Plan for the Tivat Natural Monument also includes ensuring regular irrigation of green areas. In order to fulfill this measure, activities have begun to install an automatic irrigation system on the leveled part of the park and to maintain it. The total value of this project is €91,000.00.
"It is worth noting that the Municipality of Tivat was selected by the Environmental Protection Fund for co-financing the construction of the irrigation system in the park, according to the Public Call for the allocation of non-refundable funds (subsidies) to local self-government units for the design, landscaping, and maintenance of green areas, in the amount of €49,275.94 including VAT," explained the Secretariat for Spatial Planning.
The spatial planning program for the year 2024 also includes the construction of a new closed-type sports field in the southern part of the park, near the Health Center. An amount of €200,000.00 has been allocated for this project in the budget. For the regular maintenance of the largest systematically landscaped green area in Tivat, a monthly subsidy of €50,000.00 was allocated last year, while for the year 2024, this amount has been increased to €60,000.00. Around 100 seedlings of Aleppo pines, cypresses, Indian lilacs, common hackberries, carobs, laurels, and around 120 shrubs and other species were planted in the park during 2023. An amount of €50,000.00 has been planned for the purchase of new seedlings in 2024.
