V Boka Marathon: a rich running program throughout the weekend
The Municipality of Tivat is once again the general patron of the event. “We are pleased to see the race grow year after year, becoming richer in content. Organizers expect 10,000 participants and visitors. The city comes alive during the marathon,” stated Olivera Mišković Vidojević, Secretary for Social Affairs of Tivat, at a press conference. She announced that the Municipality and Tivat Tourist Organization will contribute to the event by starting the holiday program earlier. “Tonight, December 12, the festive market stalls at Pina will open. Performances will include Adi Šoše and the Fankulo Band. We invite everyone already in the city to have fun and enjoy the most beautiful bay in the world.”
“It is a pleasure that such events are held in Boka,” said Jovan Ristić, Director of the Kotor Tourist Organization, welcoming all visitors staying in Tivat and Kotor during these days. “What is fundamentally important is that marathon participants have chosen sport as one of the main pillars of their lives, setting a positive example for all of us. It also sends the message that anything is possible if you truly want it and love it.” He announced a rich holiday program in the squares of Kotor and wished the organizers a successful event.
One of the main partners of the largest running festival on the coast is the SIRO Boka Place Hotel, based in Porto Montenegro. Speaking to the media, Pedro Echevarria, the hotel’s General Manager, athlete, Ironman, and participant in this year’s half marathon, said: “I am glad that SIRO is sponsoring such an event. SIRO is a brand representing sport, fitness, sports recovery, healthy nutrition, and the brand is growing worldwide. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere of the event, and I can say we will support not only this edition but every future edition of the Boka Marathon.”
“Back in 2012, I participated in a triathlon in Tivat. It’s great to come full circle after 13-14 years, stay active, and see how this sport is growing in Montenegro. Considering this is the 5th edition, it is easy to see that more and more of my acquaintances from the world of sport are taking part in the race. The marathon is trending, and this trend will continue. The route is unique. Running along the sea is something few can offer. For me, this is a training race that I will enjoy,” said Ognjen Stojanović, Serbian triathlete and multiple Balkan champion, who will run as a pacer on Sunday.
Nataša Šustić, who has won the women’s category of the marathon for the past two years and is also the Croatian marathon champion, spoke to the media: “It is not the victory that brings me back here, but the atmosphere. This race has a special energy – warm, genuinely sporting, and authentic. For me, the Boka Marathon is not just a race but a unique experience, a sense of togetherness, and socializing. I especially enjoy the celebration in Kotor after the race.”
