Development of the Sports Development Strategy Has Begun
The Working Group for the Drafting of the Sports Development Strategy of the Municipality of Tivat for the period 2026–2030 began its work this week. The first meeting of the Working Group, composed of representatives of the local administration, local institutions, sports clubs and the NGO sector, was opened by the Mayor of Tivat, Željko Komnenović.
“The importance of this strategic document is significant, and so are our expectations regarding the development of sports in Tivat and the creation of conditions for Tivat to become a regional centre for sporting events,” said Komnenović. He emphasized that the vision of the local administration is the development of a sports complex in the immediate vicinity of Tivat Airport, which would provide ideal conditions for athlete training, including swimming pools, courts, athletic tracks, and facilities for indoor sports.
The Secretary for Social Affairs, Olivera Mišković Vidojević, who also serves as the coordinator of the Working Group, expressed her satisfaction with the commencement of the document’s preparation, stressing that the Strategy is expected to identify areas of sport that could be further improved. She invited all sports organizations to contribute to the drafting of the Strategy. According to her, the final document is expected by the end of the second quarter of this year.
Slavica Striković, an external consultant with decades of experience in the NGO sector and in drafting strategies, plans and programmes, has been engaged to assist in the preparation of the Strategy. She introduced those present to the work plan and the steps involved in drafting the Strategy.
As emphasized by the Secretariat for Social Affairs, the task of the Working Group is to analyse the current situation and previous activities, identify existing problems and weaknesses, define strategic goals, and draft a Strategy that will be aligned with the National Sports Development Strategy 2024–2028.
