Borbelj and Šustić Crowned Champions of the 4th Boka Marathon

The largest running event in Montenegro gathers 3,500 runners from 52 countries worldwide

This year’s Boka Marathon crowned Đuro Borbelj (SRB) as the winner, completing the full marathon distance in 02:23:03. In the women’s category, Nataša Šustić (CRO) claimed the title of the fastest runner for the second consecutive year, with a time of 02:56:03. Ivan Bubnov (RUS) and Marko Ranković (SRB) secured second and third places in the men’s marathon, while Dubravka Mesec (CRO) and Elena Sokolova (RUS) took the same honors in the women’s category.

“I’m thrilled to have won and improved my personal record by more than five minutes. The course is excellent,” said marathon champion Đuro Borbelj.

In the half-marathon, Viacheslav Sokolov (RUS) claimed victory with a time of 01:09:18, while Nevena Jovanović (SRB) conquered the 21km course in 01:19:45. Runners-up and third-place finishers in the men’s half-marathon were Ilija Jukić (BIH) and Velimir Bojović (SRB). In the women’s category, Biljana Cvijanović (SRB) and Ivana Živković (SRB) took second and third places, respectively.

The 4th Boka Marathon brought together a record-breaking 3,500 participants from 52 countries and six continents. A total of 2,700 runners participated in the marathon, half-marathon, and relay events, traversing the breathtaking scenery of the world’s most beautiful bay, from Tivat to Kotor.

The marathon was officially opened at Tivat’s Pine Promenade by Mayor Željko Komnenović, who wished participants a beautiful and successful day: “This is one of the largest events of its kind in the former Yugoslav region. I see smiles, enthusiasm, and great energy, and I hope we gather again next year in even greater numbers.”

The festive opening was highlighted by performances from the Tivat Music and Education Society and Modesta majorettes. Members of the ancient Bokelj Navy marked the start of the race with ceremonial volleys that lasted a full five minutes.

The event’s general sponsor was the Municipality of Tivat, with gold partners including the Municipality of Kotor and the tourism organizations of Tivat and Kotor. Additional sponsors included Siro Boka, Supplement Store, Coca-Cola HBC Montenegro, Powder Ade, Voda Rosa, Logate, Imlek, D Photo, Hama, Una Montenegro, Garmin, Sea Point, and Hotel La Roche, as well as municipal companies Komunalno and Vodovod i Kanalizacija Tivat. The media sponsors were Radio Tivat and Radio Kotor.
