“Health Bags” for Users of the Home Assistance Program

The Municipality of Tivat – Secretariat for Social Affairs provided “health bags” containing nutritious food for all users of the Community Life Support Service – Home Assistance, which were delivered yesterday and today by geronto-care workers and young volunteers from the Tivat Red Cross Branch.
This event symbolically marked 19 years of geronto-services and active care for elderly persons, provided in Tivat by this organization since 2006.
"The success of this program lies in cooperation with institutions – the Municipality of Tivat, which covers all costs for users, as well as the Tivat Health Center and the Social Welfare Center, with whom communication is direct and fully supportive both in emergency interventions and in daily operations," emphasize representatives of the Tivat Red Cross Branch.
For the implementation of the Home Assistance Program, the Municipality of Tivat allocates €60,000 annually. The service provider – Tivat Red Cross Branch – engages geronto-care workers based on licenses and decisions, prepares weekly and monthly schedules, manages user complaints, and oversees all details necessary for the program’s operation. The service includes:
- Procurement of food, assistance with meal preparation and feeding;
- Assistance with mobility;
- Assistance with personal hygiene and cleaning of living spaces;
- Assistance with heating the premises;
- Assistance with purchasing newspapers and books and paying utility bills, electricity, and phone;
- Mediation in obtaining various services for home maintenance and household appliances;
- Procurement of medicines and transportation to medical appointments.
In 2025, 46 individuals from 36 households in Tivat have been eligible to use this service based on decisions of the Social Welfare Center, with the Municipality of Tivat fully covering costs that would otherwise fall on the users.
