Ocean Live Park Officially Opened in Tivat: Rich Program for All Visitors
From September 15 to 21: Numerous Free Activities for Visitors from Montenegro and the Region
The Ocean Live Park was officially opened on the Pine Promenade in Tivat, serving as the central hub for the final stage of the prestigious European regatta, The Ocean Race Europe 2025. Over the next seven days, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in more than 50 program activities – ranging from scientific workshops and university presentations to concerts, film screenings, and theater performances.
The educational program of Ocean Live Park is organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Maritime Studies and the Institute of Marine Biology, while the cultural segment offers a variety of artistic activities at multiple locations. During the opening ceremony, representatives of national and local institutions highlighted the importance of such a prestigious sailing event for promoting Montenegro’s maritime tradition and positioning Tivat and the Bay of Kotor on the global nautical map.
As Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović noted, The Ocean Race Europe 2025 is more than a sporting regatta – it is a symbol of connecting culture, people, and tradition.
“The arrival of the world’s most prestigious sailing teams in our bay waters represents a historic moment and a confirmation of Montenegro’s international reputation. The Government of Montenegro views this opportunity not only as a boost for economic development and new jobs, but also as a way to strengthen the country’s tourism identity. The Ocean Race Europe 2025 carries a strong message about preserving the seas and natural resources, a value to which Montenegro is deeply committed. We are confident that the Bay of Kotor will shine in all its beauty, showcasing its culture and hospitality to the world,” said Radulović.
The President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, expressed his satisfaction that Tivat is hosting the regatta finale, becoming a sports epicenter of Europe.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy sailing, the beautiful September weather, and the numerous activities organized for visitors. It is also a chance to educate ourselves further, to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the sea and the unique bay environment – a valuable resource we have inherited, manage, and must preserve for future generations,” said Komnenović, inviting all citizens of Montenegro to visit Tivat during the event.
The Ocean Live Park will also feature the United Nations Mission, with programs focused on sustainable development and the protection of marine and coastal ecosystems. UN Resident Coordinator Caroline Tiso emphasized that Montenegro’s coastline is more than a stunning landscape – it is a lifeline.
“Although small in size, Montenegro has immense natural wealth. Every coastal state – large or small – has a role in protecting our seas and oceans,” Tiso said, stressing that oceans face unprecedented pressures.
“Rising temperatures, pollution, and plastic waste are increasingly threatening marine ecosystems. It is time for decisive, united action. Oceans belong to all humanity and must be protected collectively. Just as sailors work together to overcome waves, states and communities must unite to protect our shared lifeline – our seas and oceans,” she added.
According to Richard Brisius, Race Director, The Ocean Race Europe has been the ultimate test for teams since 1973 and, for 50 years, has also sought new ways to connect the world.
“At Ocean Race, we are firmly committed to restoring ocean health. As Ambassador Peter Thomson, the UN Special Envoy for the Ocean, reminds us – we cannot have a healthy planet without healthy oceans. Together in the Bay of Kotor, we have brought not only the race but also a mission to protect the oceans and unite people worldwide. In today’s world, more than ever, this is a legacy we are building here together,” Brisius emphasized.
On behalf of the organizers, Captain Vladimir Šparović, President of the Organizing Committee of The Ocean Race Boka Bay, invited all citizens and visitors to explore Ocean Live Park over the coming days.
“This is the largest sporting event ever held in our country. But more than that, it is an event that promotes the international effort to protect the world’s oceans. For this reason, it is of great importance to our country as a coastal state. Enjoy the next seven days with the unique attractions Ocean Race has prepared for you, both in Ocean Live Park and on the racecourse in the Tivat Bay, where you will witness the world’s fastest sails in action,” concluded Šparović.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of Ocean Live Park was performed by Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović and the race ambassador, Montenegrin sailor Milivoj Dukić. The Park’s program over the next seven days includes scientific presentations, children’s workshops, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, and discussions with researchers.
