Representatives of the Municipality of Tivat at the URBIS – The Smart Cities Meetup in Brno

Representatives of the Municipality of Tivat, the Secretary of the Secretariat for Spatial Planning, Milica Manojlović, and the Independent Advisor for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency, Biljana Krivokapić, were part of the Western Balkans delegation gathered within the initiative Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in Southeast Europe at the URBIS – The Smart Cities Meetup fair in Brno, Czech Republic, held from 9 to 12 June.

The participation of the representatives of the Municipality of Tivat in this event was supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, within the project Open Regional Fund for Southeast Europe – Energy, Transport and Climate Protection, implemented by GIZ and co-financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union.

The international fair and conference URBIS – The Smart Cities Meetup focuses on innovations in urban development, smart technologies and sustainability. The conference programme included discussions on sustainable energy solutions, digitalization and artificial intelligence and their application in city and municipal governance, improvement of mobility in local communities, and the presentation of best practices.

Representative of the Municipality of Tivat, Milica Manojlović, participated in the round table “Empowering Local Governments to Build Resilient Municipalities: Dialogue between the Western Balkans and Ukraine.”

As part of the event, a visit was organized to the rural municipality of Kostice, where participants were introduced to a positive example of small community development, as well as to the Brno Communication Centre, where a smart traffic control system and urban road infrastructure management system were presented.

The URBIS Smart Cities Meetup was organized in cooperation with four ministries and around ten other institutions, with the aim of presenting innovations, exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between cities, municipalities, the business sector and the academic community.
