The third edition of the Wind Festival taking place from April 26th to May 25th.
Tivat will once again host the Wind Festival this spring, during which sailing weekends will take place from April 26th to May 25th, featuring 15 sports, educational, cultural, and entertainment programs at various locations along the coast and inland of the city, announced the organizers and partners at today's press conference presenting the third edition of the festival.
The Sailing Club Delfin, as a strategic partner of the Municipality of Tivat and the Tourist Organization of Tivat, continues to promote the authentic local maritime culture, bringing together institutions and public companies, non-governmental and sports organizations, creative associations, and individuals who jointly bring a month-long weekend celebration, primarily aimed at the citizens of Tivat and the Bay of Kotor, said Nina Lakičević, Director of the Tourist Organization of Tivat, speaking on behalf of the Municipality of Tivat and the tourist industry.
"This festival is happening at the right time, and it is very important for our community to develop such a story. A story about promoting local public spaces as places for meetings and socializing, a story about uniting local forces through sports, education, quality cultural, and entertainment programs, giving the stage to young musicians and talents. With an authentic offer, especially in the pre-season, we will be attractive even to guests who want to feel the genuine atmosphere of the destination they are visiting.
The Municipality of Tivat and the TO Tivat are particularly proud that Delfin has earned the trust of scientific institutions, and the festival brings another international conference on the topic of nautical tourism and sustainable development of the local community.
I take this opportunity to invite our entire community and all guests and visitors to Tivat to come to the opening of the Festival on April 26th at Pine, and join us on weekends until the end of May. Welcome!"
The President of the Sailing Club Delfin and the conceptual creator of the Wind Festival, Dr. Frano Tripović, pointed out that sailing and navigation are not just a sport and profession but skills necessary for life with and by the sea, and the club considers education as its obligation, striving to position itself as the primary maritime school.
"The Wind Festival promotes light, awakening, birth, kindness. Creativity and joy. It celebrates life. Now and here, relying on the rich natural and cultural heritage we inherit. It addresses primarily the residents of Tivat and the Bay of Kotor and aims to promote reasons to stay at home. Life is not beautiful buildings and cities; life is people. Intangible and material cultural heritage, culture as a whole, is the only thing that can be passed down from generation to generation, through nurturing and education. That is what we do, and thanks to everyone who supports us."
Stating that this year's event is supported by over thirty business entities and is realized with the support of the Municipality of Tivat, the Tourist Organization, international foundations Francis&Richard Gadbois and William Gilspie, the Festival's Director, Vesna Vukić, stated that authenticity is precisely what makes it a valuable tourist product.
"We are inclined to cater to tourists, putting their desires and needs first. We should not forget that tourists do not come to Montenegro because of exclusive hotels; they come to exclusive hotels because of Montenegro. It is essential to preserve the knowledge we have, the skills needed to preserve the culture of life. And be interesting. That is one of the sustainability principles we want to emphasize with this project."
The program starts on the last weekend of April, traditionally with the Una Montenegro Cup Tivat Regatta, which officially kicks off the nautical season in the Bay of Kotor. The opening is scheduled for April 26th at the Pine city waterfront, featuring one of the most popular bands in the club scene in Montenegro - Milky Wave, as the opening act for the Belgrade punk-rock band Partibrejkersi.
The Festival continues on the first weekend of May with an exhibition by the regional association of visual artists Adriatic Artists, hosted by the Museum and Gallery of Tivat, followed by an exhibition by the Association of Fine Artists of Tivat and the continuation of the international scientific and professional conference "Boka Kotorska as a Sustainable Nautical Destination" the following weekend.
Regarding the cooperation with the Sailing Club Delfin, the Vice-Dean for Development and Communication of the Maritime Faculty Kotor, UCG, and the Director of the conference, Prof. Dr. Zorica Đurović, thanked, on behalf of the faculty, for the opportunity to be one of the key partners in the preparation and implementation of the educational program within the Wind Festival.
"We are grateful, in that sense, primarily to the Sailing Club Delfin, which is an example of genuine, sincere, and proactive social responsibility for all of us, and we are all here together to ensure that it is also effective. It is time to show our gratitude, to show our responsibility, and to protect the Bay, first of all from ourselves, and then from everyone else, and to preserve it as the gem it is and to make all activities within it sustainable and healthier. That is precisely the idea of the conference entrusted to us, as the Maritime Faculty Kotor of the University of Montenegro, of course, in cooperation with the Sailing Club Delfin and all of you."
The festival's partner is also the Cultural Center of Tivat, which organizes the play "The Other Side of the Wind," and this year, the Music School of Tivat and JUŠOSMO Vida Matjan from Kotor are involved in production, preparing three classical music programs, including a grand concert with the Tivat Music Education Society on the city waterfront.
In addition to the Small Tivat Regatta and the 19th edition of the Tivataske Regatta, the sports program also includes the Virtual Regatta and the Veterans' Regatta, as well as a new edition of the off-road cycling race Enduro Race on Vrmac.
The Wind Festival will traditionally conclude at Ponta Seljanova.
"On Youth Day, we will dance in the city of good winds, celebrating life with the iconic Montenegrin rapper Random and the performance by the Belgrade band Eyesburn, who will mark 30 years of work with their concert at the Wind Festival 2024. All programs are free for visitors this year," the organizers said, inviting interested parties to visit the festival's website - www.windfest.me.
