Tivat and Petanz Officially Establish Twinning Agreement
A delegation from the Municipality of Tivat, led by Mayor Željko Komnenović, visited Petanz, Luxembourg, at the end of last week, where a Twinning Agreement between the two cities was signed.
The formal signing ceremony took place on March 14 at the Petanz City Hall, during which Mayor of Tivat Željko Komnenović and Mayor of Petanz Jean-Marie Halsdorf signed the document establishing formal cooperation between the two local governments.
The twinning agreement aims to strengthen friendly relations and develop concrete forms of cooperation between Tivat and Petanz through the exchange of experiences and the implementation of projects in the areas of local governance, culture, education, sports, and environmental protection. According to the document, special focus will be placed on the exchange of best practices between municipal services, organization of joint cultural programs, and strengthening ties between citizens of the two cities.
During their stay in Petanz, the Tivat delegation had the opportunity to learn about the functioning of local administration and ongoing development projects, and a city tour was also organized. The delegation included the municipal manager, Ivona Petrović. The visit also fostered carnival cooperation, with representatives of Tivat’s NGO “Maškarada” participating in the 69th Carnival Parade in Petanjz.
After several reciprocal visits, the formal twinning of the two cities began in november 2025. year, in Tivat, as part of the Municipality Day celebrations, when Komnenović and Halsdorf signed the Letter of Intent for Twinning.
