V International Carnival in Tivat – June 7 and 8

06 Jun 2025

The fifth International Carnival will take place this upcoming weekend, June 7 and 8, in Tivat. Organizers from NVU “Maškarada” announce that, once again, the event will live up to its reputation as one of the most attractive and well-attended cultural and tourist events in the city and the region.

Goran Božović, Carnival Manager and Director of the Tivat Cultural Center, emphasized that this year’s program is exceptionally rich, designed to offer activities for international carnival participants, local performers, and the general public. “Already on Friday, June 6, we start with the Masquerade Ball on the Water, which is a unique feature of our carnival and makes it one of the most attractive in the region. The ball is organized for foreign carnival participants and VIP guests, including a cruise through the Bay of Kotor with live music.”

The main program will begin on Saturday, June 7, with a formal reception for all representatives of the carnival groups. At 8:00 PM, the grand international carnival parade will start from the roundabout on the Adriatic Highway, along Druge Dalmatinske Brigade and 21. Novembra streets, to the Pine waterfront.

“After the carnival group performances at Pine, the audience will enjoy an exciting Brazilian samba show performed by a professional group from Brazil, followed by a concert by regional music star Petar Grašo, who is returning to Tivat after a long time,” Božović noted.

On Sunday, June 8, the Children’s Carnival will take place. “The parade of children will also start from the roundabout at 7:00 PM, following the same route to the Pine waterfront, where the children will perform. This year, we expect over 500 participants from Montenegro and abroad.”

Božović particularly highlighted the international character of this year’s carnival, noting that groups from more than ten countries will participate, including, for the first time, a carnival group from the United States—from Tampa, Florida.

Among the carnival guests will be the official delegation from Luxembourg, led by the mayor  Petanža, In addition to NVU “Maškarada,” the hosts will also include officials from the Municipality of Tivat.

The International Carnival in Tivat serves as an excellent introduction to the main part of the summer tourist season, stated Nina Lakičević, Director of the Tivat Tourist Organization. “This weekend will bring a true spectacle of colors, music, and positive energy to our city—exactly what we needed to officially kick off the summer tourist season. Through the rich program presented, we want to once again show that we have truly thought of everything and that the entertainment will be suitable for all generations.”

The carnival is part of Tivat’s diverse and extensive event calendar for 2025. “Every memory, video, and photograph sent from Tivat during these days contributes to our identity and recognition as a tourist destination. I am confident that, as in previous years, the carnival will be one of the most significant events in our city. Experience has shown us that Maškarada is an excellent organizer, and I sincerely thank them for their tremendous effort year after year. I wish them great success in the event, and I believe this will be just the beginning of an even longer and more meaningful tradition,” Lakičević added.
