Free School Transport for Students in Tivat
The Municipality of Tivat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has provided free transport for all Tivat students traveling to elementary and secondary schools in Tivat, Kotor, Budva, and Herceg Novi, who use city, suburban, and intercity transport for distances longer than two kilometers.
Students residing in the Municipality of Tivat are eligible for cost-sharing on transport if they travel to school for distances of five kilometers or more, using suburban and intercity transport as follows:
- Elementary School Students: Eligible for a 60% subsidy on the student ticket price (the remaining 40% is covered by the Ministry of Education).
- Secondary School Students: Eligible for an 80% subsidy on the student ticket price (the remaining 20% is covered by the Ministry of Education).
Students residing in the Municipality of Tivat traveling to school for distances between two and five kilometers using city and suburban transport are eligible for a 100% subsidy on the ticket price.
Procedure for Applying for Cost-Sharing on Transport
Students (parents/guardians) must submit proof of ticket purchase (payment receipt) to their school by the 15th of each month.
The school will enter the following information (student's name, travel route, bank account number, ticket price, and the amount of Tivat Municipality's subsidy) into a table, which must be submitted to the Secretariat for Social Activities by the 20th of each month.
Based on the table verified by the school administration, the Municipality of Tivat will transfer funds for transport cost-sharing in the following amounts:
- 60% of the ticket price for elementary school students traveling five kilometers or more.
- 80% of the ticket price for secondary school students traveling five kilometers or more.
- 100% of the ticket price for both elementary and secondary school students traveling two to five kilometers.
Students attending school in Budva and Cetinje, who use various transport providers and buy daily tickets due to specific transport circumstances, must submit all purchased tickets from the previous month to their school by the 15th of the current month for inclusion in the table submitted to the Secretariat for Social Activities. In this case, the Municipality of Tivat provides an 80% subsidy for secondary school students and 60% for elementary school students.
All students using transport and their parents are requested to provide correct bank account numbers and the exact name of the bank to avoid issues with the transfer of funds for cost reimbursement.
