Blood Donation Campaign in Donja Lastva on Wednesday
The Municipality of Tivat and the Red Cross of Tivat, in cooperation with the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Montenegro, continue to organize voluntary blood donation campaigns in the local communities of Tivat. The next action will take place in Donja Lastva, at the MZ Lastva premises, on Wednesday, April 2nd, from 9 AM to 12 PM.
“With this campaign, we aim to assist the Blood Transfusion Institute in improving the blood supply reserves, as well as strengthening the collaboration between the municipal Red Cross organization and the newly established local community in Tivat,” emphasized Jelena Šćekić, Secretary for Local Government of the Municipality of Tivat. She invited the residents of the Lastva community to join this humanitarian action next Wednesday.
“The blood donation procedure lasts from 15 to 20 minutes, and the medical team on-site will confirm whether you meet the health requirements for donating blood,” said Nevena Božović, Secretary of the Red Cross Tivat. She confirmed that the cooperation between local communities and the Red Cross can be very significant: “Together, we can organize first aid training, but also, through contact with citizens and local community bodies, gain insight into the needs of elderly people or those receiving social assistance, providing them with the necessary help and support.”
For the blood donation campaign, sandwiches and refreshments will be provided.
A blood donor can be any healthy adult person aged 18 to 65. Women can donate blood up to 3 times a year, while men can donate up to 4 times a year. Donors should not have a cold, should not suffer from lung or heart diseases, and should not be undergoing any chronic or acute therapy. It is also important that the donor has not been tattooed in the past six months and meets certain parameters regarding blood pressure, body weight, and body temperature.
