Collaboration between the Environmental Protection Fund and the Municipality of Tivat
The collaboration between the Municipality of Tivat and the Environmental Protection Fund was officially formalized today through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at implementing projects aimed at improving the quality of life and environmental protection and energy efficiency. The Memorandum was signed by the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, and the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Fund, Draško Boljević.
"Just last year, the Environmental Protection Fund provided funds amounting to 1.5 million euros to support projects of Montenegrin local governments," stated representatives of this government agency, emphasizing their readiness to provide full support to the Municipality of Tivat in accessing funds for projects aimed at improving environmental protection. In addition to public competitions open to all municipalities, the Environmental Protection Fund offers assistance in addressing specific issues that municipalities may face within their territory, concerning sustainable development, ecology, and environmental protection.
During the meeting in the President's Cabinet, collaboration and support for the landfill remediation project in the Lovanje - Sinjarevo location were agreed upon. "In early February, we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Municipality of Kotor in the process of remediating this unregulated waste disposal site. We hope this will be the beginning of a systemic solution to the problem that burdens the municipality of Tivat," emphasized Komnenović. He shared with the representatives of the Environmental Protection Fund details about the significant problem of illegal dumping of construction waste from the Krtolj roundabout to Solila, as well as other examples of land degradation within the territory of the Municipality of Tivat.
Regarding the previous cooperation between the Municipality and the Environmental Protection Fund, a project is currently underway for the construction of an irrigation system in the Big City Park, co-financed by the Environmental Protection Fund with approximately 50,000 euros, in accordance with the Public Call for the allocation of non-refundable funds to local self-government units for the design, landscaping, and maintenance of green areas.
