Reception and Awards for Tivat Athletes

The Mayor of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, and the Secretary for Social Affairs, Olivera Mišković Vidojević, hosted and awarded Tivat athletes who achieved significant international sports results in recent months.

Komnenović congratulated the athletes on their exceptional accomplishments throughout the year, announcing increased investments by the local government in sports. He shared plans for further strengthening sports infrastructure and highlighted major upcoming sports events in Tivat, such as the Ocean Race Europe sailing competition.

“You are true ambassadors of our city in the country and the region,” emphasized Secretary Mišković Vidojević, adding that the Secretariat is always open to providing professional assistance and support.

Awarded athletes included:

  • Water polo players Andrija Bjelica and Tim Perov, both silver medalists at the European Junior Water Polo Championship with Montenegro’s national team. Perov also won a bronze medal at the World Championship in Argentina.
  • Bocce players Gracija Stjepčević and Mateo Počanić. Stjepčević claimed two gold medals at the World Championship in Puerto Rico, while Počanić earned a bronze medal. Niko Stjepčević, the coach of Montenegro’s Bocce National Team, was also recognized for his efforts and thanked the Municipality for its support.
  • Judoka Stefan Kovinić from Tivat’s Monte Tatami club, who won a gold medal at the Balkan Championship in Tirana and a bronze medal at the Balkan Championship in Sarajevo. Ivana Milović, a judo coach at Monte Tatami, also attended the reception and highlighted the importance of having a secured space for the club’s activities.
  • Gymnasts Simona Marić, Saša Kočović, Klara Matković, and Staša Stanjević, who achieved outstanding results at the Diamond Cup in Dubai, returning with a total of six medals. They attended the reception with Dejan Janjatović, the coach of Tivat’s youngest sports organization, Gymnastics Club Tivat.
  • Basketball players Katarina Radulović and Danijela Vrcan, members of Montenegro’s U18 women’s cadet team, who won the gold medal at the European Championship B Division. Their success was praised and financially rewarded by the local administration.
  • Sailing coach Ilko Klakor was recognized for his achievements with sailor Milivoj Dukić, as they qualified for the Paris Olympics, marking Montenegro’s best Olympic result in sailing. Klakor expressed gratitude to the Municipality and stated that the funds would be used to purchase sails for the newly established Sailing Club Krtoli.

The reception celebrated the athletes' successes and reiterated Tivat’s commitment to supporting sports and its athletes.
