The Municipality of Tivat becomes the founder of the Basketball Club “Teodo”

Based on the Decision on regulating mutual relations between the Municipality of Tivat and KK "Teodo" and giving consent to the conclusion of the Agreement on transfer of shares to the Municipality of Tivat, which was adopted at the recent 36th session municipality of Tivat, the Municipality of Tivat becomes the founder of the Basketball Club "Teodo" from Tivat.

Teodo has results, continuity of participation in important competitions such as ABA 2 league, but also well-known for its young promising players, and a basketball school that gathers about a hundred students. All these are reasons for the Municipality of Tivat, as the founder, to stand behind "Teodo" and be the wind behind all future Tivat basketball successes ", said the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Dr. Siniša Kusovac, at a meeting with representatives of the club's management.

By purchasing land of approximately 3,800 m2, the Municipality of Tivat enabled the creation of a unique land complex, on which the Sports Center "Župa" with an indoor pool and a basketball court that meets all professional standards will be built in the coming period. "The preliminary project is ready," said Kusovac and emphasized that the Municipality will not enter the construction project until the financial construction is completely closed, which is a guarantee of timely and complete construction of the facility.

"On behalf of the club's management, I can say that we have two goals, one short-term and one long-term. The short-term goal refers to the financial stabilization and consolidation of the club, which was fulfilled by the transfer to municipal ownership. In terms of competition, we strive for placement in the ABA 2 league. The long-term goal is related to the new hall, and the acquisition of conditions for "Teodo" to play in the company of "Mornar", "Zvezda", "Partizan", "Cibona…" - said the president of the Board of Directors of the club Ivan Pekovic.

Božidar Petković, director of KK "Teodo", expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the club was owned by the Municipality:  "Administrations are temporary, while" Teodo "will always remain a city club". Petković reminded of the great successes of the club, among others the fact that "Teodo" managed to beat three European champions BC "Bosnia", BC "Partizan" and BC "Split".

The meeting in the office of the president of the municipality was also attended by the players: captain Igor Radonjić, Vjekoslav Vučinović and Vasilije Samardžić. They promised maximum commitment on the field, defending the colors of the city and the club, but they also expressed hope that such a move by the administration and the city will be a motivation for young basketball players who will work in much better conditions.

All the details of the adopted Decision on the regulation of mutual relations were explained by the Secretary of the Secretariat for Youth, Sports and Social Affairs, Darka Ognjanović, MA. The decision defines that the funds for financing KK "Teodo" are provided from the budget of the Municipality of Tivat. Basketball club "Teodo" is managed by the founder in the manner and under the conditions determined by the mentioned Decision, the Statute of the club and the Agreement on the change of ownership structure.

With this act, the Municipality of Tivat emphasizes the intention to invest in sports and be a guarantor of further successes of Tivat athletes.
