New tree planting action at Seljanovo

The Secretariat for Landscaping continued its activities on the development of the playground. Near Kotorska Street in the Seljanovo settlement, ten olive seedlings and two nettle trees were planted along the playground and parking lot, in a linear arrangement, following the existing concept of space and infrastructure. During the selection of species, attention was paid to the acquisition of autochthonous species, which are long-lived, which are not expected to cause damage to the existing infrastructure and facilities with their growth and development, which suit the microclimatic conditions of the location and which are not particularly demanding in terms of future care. In order to educate the youngest population, the action was organized in cooperation with the participants of the NGO "Adventure Club K4". The children actively participated in wrapping and strengthening the seedlings, and through a conversation about the species that are planted and ways of maintaining them, they completed their acquired knowledge in the field of environmental protection. Next to the second, smaller playground, which is located between Bokeljska street and the Seljanovo stream, two olive seedlings were planted, and three more are planned to be planted in the coming days. Since we are dealing with larger seedlings, the preparation of the ground for planting was done by the Department of Greenery, which continues the good cooperation between the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and "Komunalno" doo. The intention is to use this and similar environmental actions to make children's playgrounds a healthier and more comfortable place for children to stay, as well as to increase the amount of greenery in urban areas, so the Secretariat announces that such activities will continue.
