"The construction of roundabouts in Tivat will improve traffic efficiency for citizens and tourists, and Tivat will become an even better tourist destination. We are active participants in their construction, and I hope later in the construction of the boulevard ", said for Radio Tivat, Ivan Ševaljević, director of GPC doo from Podgorica, otherwise the processor of project documentation for the construction of the boulevard through Tivat. He mentioned that he considers the project exceptional primarily for the development of the city as well as the entire Montenegrin coast, because the problem of traffic infrastructure is one of the biggest problems of the coast in general, as well as the whole of Montenegro.
"What we are witnessing, the completion of these three roundabouts, is practically in record time. We are doing a lot of infrastructure in Montenegro and the region and I can say with certainty that since the announcement of the tender, ie the election of us as designers, everything has been completed in record time ", said Sevaljevic for Radio Tivat, expressing hope that works on the remaining part of the boulevard.
Commenting on the remarks that there are elements that were not done properly and that the roundabouts are complicated, Sevaljevic claims that he did not see or hear such comments from colleagues. He reiterated that the roundabouts are only a part of the future boulevard and that this is how they should be viewed: “We now have roundabouts with two entrance lanes in each direction, and we have a road that remained as a two-lane highway. It is to be expected then that there are certain zones in which some things are a little illogical. But why is that so? Precisely because of that phase construction which was necessary due to the normal life in Tivat during the tourist season. Unfortunately, we are aware that the epidemiological situation has prolonged some things, slowed some down, but, on the other hand, it has enabled such infrastructure projects to be completed without too many problems in terms of traffic. The essence is that the thinking of the people from the city administration and us designers is to divide this 4.2-kilometer boulevard project into phases so that these phases could be completed in real time and in the time that would do the least harm to the citizens of Tivat and tourists. "
According to the project, the total length of the boulevard, from the fitting to the boulevard to be built by the Traffic Administration on the highway N2 (outside the city of Tivat), from the Airport to the end of Seljanovo is 4.2 km, width 18 m (a total of two lanes per direction). 3.2 m), with a dividing island of one meter and two hiking and biking trails of 2 m each. In some parts, where necessary, the width will be greater than 18m, and an example is the turn for the bus station.
"What will surely speed up the traffic in Tivat is that it will now have two lanes in the direction, and left turns will not be allowed, to take the left lanes. This means that the two lanes will be absolutely passable for transit traffic. There are questions as to why a roundabout was built on Seljanovo when a four-lane intersection was planned. Precisely because it was planned that Tripović and Mažina would be allowed to turn left towards the city and the Airport. The future project of the boulevard will prohibit it precisely because of these conflicting points, primarily traffic safety, because we have a roundabout that is very close to that intersection, that is, the "Eco" pump. The vehicles will be directed to the roundabout on Seljanovo ", explained Ševaljević, adding that such are the world solutions and that people get used to them very quickly.
"We are witnessing big crowds at the crossroads, and not only in the season, in the direction from Kotor to Tivat, the center and Porto Montenegro. All these traffic jams are primarily due to left turns from the direction of Kotor to Tivat. With this project of the boulevard, it has just been done to avoid, as much as possible, left turns that would close either of these two lanes ”.
According to engineer Ševaljević, the same rule will apply to the direction from Tivat to the Airport, but he notes that this direction is much less congested even during the biggest crowds. He appealed to the citizens to be patient because the current lack of comfort is in the function of future significant improvement of traffic conditions, but he also thanked the President of the Municipality of Tivat and associates from the Secretariat for Investments, Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development.
