Appeal from the Civil Protection and Rescue Service

The Civil Protection and Rescue Service of the Municipality of Tivat has issued a public appeal regarding the significant number of interventions to extinguish fires in waste containers.

"In recent months, members of the Service have increasingly intervened in extinguishing these minor fires, the cause of which is the human factor – sometimes due to carelessness, and in some cases, intentional acts. Fires caused by carelessness most often occur when embers are thrown into the containers. Intentional fires are caused by irresponsible individuals for whom this unfortunately becomes a form of amusement," stated the commander of the Civil Protection and Rescue Service, Milorad Giljača, emphasizing that the high number of interventions to extinguish fires in containers negatively impacts the Service's operations.

"We must be aware that there is a risk that someone's playfulness and carelessness may prevent firefighters from intervening quickly and effectively in other emergency situations. We urge citizens to be particularly careful and prevent such incidents," the Civil Protection and Rescue Service emphasizes.
